So, this July 4th Holiday was one for the record books. Literally, the coldest 4th of July on record. We're used to sweltering, close to 100 degree heat, by this time each year. I'm not sure if we even hit 75 degrees this year!
As usual, we planned on spending the Holiday with family at the lake. And, not only was it cold (yes, 75 degrees is really cold for us Southern ladies), it was also really wet. As in, it rained for 5 days straight. . .pretty much the non-stop kind of rain. I'm not complaining, really, just trying to paint a picture of what a Momma with 3 young, rambunctious, kids was up against. So, you know what we did. . .we did it all anyway!
The lake put on their annual fireworks show on Wednesday night, so we went with umbrellas, rain jackets, blankets and towels. . .in the rain:
Thursday was the 4th, and it rained. . .all day. We fished, swam & jumped off the dock (not "we," as in not "I"), played cards and games, and ate all day long:
Friday, Saturday & Sunday were more of the same. Rain. And, more rain. But, we carried on as usual, except added in a little skiing, tubing, played with the fish we caught, and Tristan and Daddy jumped off a bridge!
Was thankful to see a rainbow. . .kinda started to wonder ;-) And, thankful to live in the 'ole US of A (where it's FREE. . .to rain, and all)!
Looks like you guys had a fun 4th regardless of the nasty weather.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you guys had a blast!!! I would have never guessed it was only 75 degrees. And the baby!!! I can't believe how much she's grown! Jumping off the dock???? What a big brave girl!!! Her brothers are teaching her well!
